How to Setup Your Google My Business Page

 

If you have a business, having a Google My Business Page is an absolute must. It allows your customers to see where you’re located, photos of the interior and exterior of your shop, a phone number to call, the hours you’re open along with customer reviews and a live feed of how busy it is that day.

 

You want to make sure all the information on your Google My Business page is up to date and accurate. Claim Your Business on Google

Claiming your business on Google is done by simply setting up a Google My Business page. To do so, follow the next set of instructions!

 

  1. Open up your prefered browser and head to Google.

 

  1. Create a Google account if you don’t already have one. If you do, login.

 

  1. Type in google.com/business or click the link provided.

 

  1. Click “Manage Now” located in the top, right hand corner.

 

  1. Typer in your businesses name.

 

  1. Enter in your businesses address. If you deliver, don’t forget to check the box that states that you do so. This is where you can hide your address if you’re a private business that’s run out of a home or personal office building.

 

  1. Pick a business category. Picking the right one with help with your SEO performance and make you come up with more search results. During this part you can be as vague or as specific as you’d like. You can multiple categories to show up even more in search results.

 

  1. Add your companies phone number and website address. A lot of people would rather find the information online than call someone so don’t skip out on adding a website, especially if your competitors do! If you don’t have the budget for one, Google My Business can take the information from your My Business page and make you a website. How convenient is that?

 

  1. Click Finish!

 

Making Sure Your Business is Verified

See? Setting up a Google My Business page wasn’t too hard, now was it? Once you put that information in there, you want to be able to edit it incase your website changes, you move locations or you get a new phone number.

 

Unless your business is verified, you won’t be able to do those things. Another reason to get your business verified? Customers trust Google verified businesses double the amount of non-verified ones! There are a lot of ways you can get verified but the easiest way to do it is surprisingly by snail mail! There are instructions below to guide you through the process.

 

  1. Right after you’ve set up your account you will see a screen that allows you to choose a way to verify. (If you’ve already logged out, log back in and click on the “verify now” banner on the top of the page)

 

  1. Double check to make sure all of your business information is up to date.

 

  1. Click on the button that says “mail”

 

  1. Type in the recipients name. You can put your business name or leave it blank if you’d like.

 

  1. Tap on “send postcard”

 

  1. Your postcard should come within a week.

 

  1. Once it’s arrived, log back into your Google My Business account.

 

  1. Click “enter code” and type in the verification code that’s on the postcard you received.

 

  1. Viola! A little bit of work and patience and you are now live and verified on Google!

 

Other Ways To Get Verified


If you don’t want to wait five days to get verified, your business may be approved to get verified on the phone or by email. We included how to go about those avenues as well, just in case you want to give them a try!

 

By Phone:

 

  1. On the choose a way to verify page you’ll see the option “verify by phone”

  2. Click on that during a time when you’re able to answer the phone.

  3. Wait a few moments for your phone to ring and be prepared to type in a verification code.

  4. Answer the phone and enter in the code.

  5. All done!

 

By Email:

 

  1. When you’re on the choose a way to verify page, choose “email”

  2. You will receive in email shortly

  3. Open the email and simply click “verify” within the email itself.

  4. Easy peasy, you’re now verified!
